Artist of the Month
Growing up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio , and listening to many genres of music at a young age, music has been Ashlee's number one influence. Starting at the age of 13 , she was introduced to multiple types of art mediums leading her to advanced courses in oil painting and graphic design. Several art courses helped shape her own technique.
Ashlee earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Northwood University, Midland, Michigan in 2012. She then relocated to South Florida where she became a volunteer at Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, while continuing to study painting. Her goal is to continue to explore narratives that bring collective healing in every art piece.
My work forms connections between past and present. Analyzing Black Culture, music, and history has helped me find strength and balance in the face of our current cultural paradigm. I pay tribute to the artists and historical figures who have positively impacted my life. Through dedication to my artistic practice, I continue to discover new and interesting ways to express my feelings on canvas.
